Key responsibilities
The selected candidate will be responsible for installing structured network cabling, such as optical fiber and ethernet cables, inside data centers. They will conduct position and power audits for servers and manage the availability of cabling materials. The candidate will perform cable management, labeling, and recording of network port information according to AWS standards. They will manage and escort cabling vendors, complete tasks via a web-based ticketing system, and follow strict safety and security procedures. They will also collaborate with stakeholders to solve operational issues and support network infrastructure deployment projects.
Required qualifications
The candidate is required to have a Higher NITEC or Diploma or higher in Information Systems or a similar discipline. They should be proficient with computers and business applications like emails and spreadsheets. The candidate must be willing and able to travel between different sites across the island as required by the role.
Experience needed
This is an executive level position. The candidate should have a minimum of 2 to 4 years of cabling experience, preferably working in a data center environment. Any working experience in a virtualized enterprise networking environment or a highly secured environment will be considered an asset. Experience with small to medium network projects that encompass some form of complexity is highly preferred. On the job support will be provided as part of the growing Infrastructure Delivery Team.
Skills and competencies
The candidate should possess strong technical aptitude as well as excellent written and oral communication skills. They should have basic troubleshooting skills for networking and physical interconnectivity issues, including patch panels and patch cords. The candidate must have basic TCP/IP networking knowledge and understand common networking terms, optics, and test equipment. They should have the ability to deal effectively with people in a wide variety of situations and possess strong planning, initiative, and problem-solving abilities.
