The national development minister of Singapore broke into tears in the parliament on Wednesday while thanking the different medical, health care people, and the people of Singapore who are supporting and helping Singapore to fight against COVID-19.
Mr. Wong was giving a speech on the updates of different measures and tightening of the border exchanges to prevent the spread of the virus. During the last 30 min of his speech, he said that Singaporeans have been at their best during these hard times and have supported generously to fight against the virus.
He gave appreciation by giving examples of Youth Corps Singapore who are going to each possible door and spreading the message of awareness and maintenance of hygiene necessary to stop the spread of the virus. Further, he thanked groups like the Singapore Red Cross for helping them during a hard time. He also mentioned about how individuals of Singapore have come up to help the needy by donating essentials as face masks and hand sanitizers. He had no words to thank the medical workers who are treating and handling patients every day.
He mentioned different public officials from various government agencies. He said: “not everything one does is visible to the public, but they have been working around the clock day and night to improve the situation.”

He told about the public feedbacks, which was going to take place the first time in the history of Singapore. He promised that if there are lapses, they will rectify it.
He specially mentioned the unsung heroes, the cleaners, media, the food, and beverages department, the staff, and thanked them for their valuable inputs.
Words are not sufficient to express our appreciation for …” said Mr. Wong, as he choked up, unable to finish his sentence and busted into tears. He drank water stepped back, and after wiping his tears out, continued.
He appealed the Singaporeans to be stronger and said it is just the beginning of a long fight.
