GAIA CHINESE CULINARY PTE. LTD. is seeking an expert Wine Sommelier to help launch a brand-new, high-end Chinese fine dining concept helmed by an award-winning Chef. This Permanent, Full Time role is situated in the heart of the city, offering a sophisticated platform for a beverage professional to reinvent classic dining experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Restaurant Manager, you will be the primary authority on the restaurant’s beverage program:

Wine Pairing & Service: Skillfully pair alcoholic beverages with Chinese fine dining dishes to elevate the guest experience. You will also train the service team on professional techniques for presenting, opening, decanting, and serving wine.

Sales & Strategy: Employ upselling techniques to drive beverage sales and maximize revenue through effective sales strategies.

Inventory & Cellar Management: Organize and maintain the physical placement of wine and liquor in cellars and cabinets. You will also manage stock levels and quality standards, building rapport with suppliers.

Leadership & Training: Supervise and develop the service team’s beverage knowledge, creating professional development plans to enhance their performance.

Guest Relations: Solicit and relay guest feedback to management to continuously improve the wine list and overall beverage offerings.
Required Qualifications & Experience

Education: A Degree or Certificate from the Wine and Spirits Education Trust (WSET) is highly preferred.

Experience: Requires 3 to 5 years of relevant experience. Prior experience in a pre-opening team is a significant advantage.

Knowledge: Expert-level knowledge of wines, liquors, and cocktails, with a focus on recommending the best pairings for diverse Chinese culinary flavors.

Soft Skills: Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills to motivate the team and engage high-net-worth guests.

Schedule: Must be comfortable with flexible hours, including shifts, split shifts, weekends, and public holidays.

Salary & Details

Monthly Salary: $3,800 to $4,500.
